What is the Host Cancellation Policy?
We want every member to understand what is expected of Hosts when a reservation has been confirmed.
Host Cancellations
Hosts are not permitted to cancel a confirmed reservation for any reason, except in the case of a Force Majeure event (see below).
If a Host cancels or fails to honor a confirmed reservation, they are responsible for:
- Refunding the guest's Keys and Exchange Fee, or
- Covering the cost of comparable alternative accommodations if needed
Failure to meet these obligations may result in loss of ThirdHome membership and forfeiture of all account benefits.
Force Majeure / Government Travel Restrictions
If travel to your property becomes prohibited or impractical due to a government restriction or Force Majeure event (natural disaster, pandemic, etc.), a Host may request to cancel without standard penalties. Thirdhome will review and determine eligibility.
A Note on Non-Recoverable Travel Costs
ThirdHome's responsibility in the event of a Host cancellation is limited to Keys, Exchange Fees, and securing comparable accommodations. Members are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance to protect against other costs such as flights and pre-paid activities that may not be recoverable.
